Energy Star Qualified

The Energy Star system is a government-regulated joint-initiative between the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. Based on strict guidelines for energy efficiency, the program rates and qualifies products in over 60 categories. In stores and warehouses across the country, these products bear the now-familiar Energy Star label, a blue and white sticker that has become a beacon of practicality, efficiency and environmental responsibility.

On average, appliances that are Energy Star-qualified are 10-20 percent more efficient than unqualified appliances. A full-size Energy Star dishwasher conserves 493 gallons of water per year. A qualified clothes washer saves you up to 12,000 gallons. Many products will claim "energy efficiency," but rarely to the same degree, and almost certainly not to the extent of Energy Star products.

Energy Star offers an easily recognizable standard; consumers can be confident in its authenticity and uniformity. Energy Star-qualified products and materials are tested and true. These are products that saved Americans $14 billion on energy bills in 2006 alone. Here's a listing of several Energy Star products and how they can save you money - not to mention keep those greenhouse gas emissions out of our air.
