Green Label / Green Label Plus

The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) has been thinking green since 1992. With the goal of improved indoor air quality in mind, CRI created the Green Label certification program to test and identify carpet, cushions and adhesives with low or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

CRI set specific standards for products which, should they meet those standards, may wear the Green Label logo so that consumers, architects, builders, and other industry professionals can easily recognize health- and eco-conscious products. Recently, CRI launched the Green Label Plus program for carpet and adhesives with even more strict standards regarding emissions and indoor air quality (new standards for cushions are coming soon).

Testing on carpet and adhesives is performed by Air Quality Sciences, an independent laboratory, using methods developed along with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This has been approved as the standard by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Green Label Plus also meets the state of California's stringent indoor air quality standards. Below, you'll find an extensive list of products that meet Green Label and Green Label Plus criteria, ensuring a higher standard of air quality in your home.
