Green Bathroom Water Savings

Solar hot water heaters are an easy way to qualify for tax credits and save money on your utility bills. The best part is that solar hot water systems are relatively easy to install, since they simply consist of a holding tank, thermostat and solar collector (like a panel, but just for heating water). Get the system running and you have all the benefits of a tank full of hot water without having to worry about your energy bills going through the roof.  So, enjoy the hot (and guilt-free) shower. If you use a lot of hot water at night, couple a solar hot water heater with a tankless one.

Dual-Flush ToiletWater-saving toilets use two separate flush cycles: one for solids and one for liquids, thereby using drastically less water than conventional toilets. Some companies even make a toilets with a sink built into the top. Why? It’s a genius system; as you wash your hands throughout the day, sink water fills the toilet tank and you have instant water savings.  Couple that with an average flush rate of 0.9 gallons per flush (compared to the conventional 2+ gallons), and you've got yourself one green-savvy toilet.
