I'm not thinking of remodeling quite yet, though I'm still intrigued by the idea of solar or other alternative engergies... (any suggestions for alternatives to solar?).
In the meantime, though, I'm doing all I can to "go green" around the house--trying to use less, and use more reclaimed and second-hand stuff. Almost everything from our cherry-wood dining table and living room futon to our pots and pans are second-hand (or "pre-loved" as I like to call it). I even tried to find used flooring, but that was a stretch...
Anyway, it can be tough sometimes to find this stuff, but I found a good site for exchanging these kinds of things, with other green-minded folks! Check out Exchange For Green at http://www.exchange4green.com. It promotes green living by providing people a platform to easily exchange and give away items they are finished with for the ones they want. There are even forums for exchanging ideas about things like green home improvement.
