Geoweb Cellular Confinement System
One of the most important aspects of a home or property is its soil. All too often, soil problems on a property compromise the property’s value, jeopardize existing buildings and cause serious long-term water runoff problems. Solving problems of the soil has long been a challenge of geotechnical engineers and other soil professionals. One of the most advanced, environmentally friendly, and easy-to-install soil retention solutions is the Geoweb Cellular Confinement System by Presto Products.
Developed in conjunction with the US Army Corps of Engineers to solve severe combat-situation soil issues, the Geoweb System is perfect for civilians, too. Professionals call it one of the most versatile products in the Geosynthetic arena. It helps to stabilize shifting soils, protects turf, stabilizes steep inclines (even river banks), paves an ideal foundation for agricultural needs even in high-flow areas, and provides a perfect foundation for roads.
The technology is called “cellular confinement” because it uses hollow, interconnected cells to form a surface for stabilization. Because it is three-dimensional, it works as well on a horizontal plane as it does on a steep incline. Each cell contains perforations that provide for the free flow of water, but not the flow of soil. The Geoweb is secured into the ground using tendons or ATRA anchors, clips or connection devices.
Geoweb Cellular Confinement Systems is not just a great idea for yard aesthetics and problem soil spots. It’s also a great idea for the environment. The Geoweb system is eligible for USGBC LEED green building credits for reducing site disturbance, storm water quantity and quality control, reducing heat island effect and using regional materials. It is officially a low-impact development (LID) product for its allowing stormvwater collection through vegetated outer fascia and reducing runoff. In essence, it functions as your property’s built-in storm water collection and storage system without the headache of a runoff pond.
Though soil problems can be some of the trickiest to deal with, the Geoweb Cellular Confinement System makes them far easier to deal with, and gives the environment a reason to thank you, too.
