LEDs - not just for the holidays anymore
For the holiday season, we strung up white LED lights over the windows and along the ceiling of our cozy living room--and we like the light better than our normal lamps! So, I guess this year we won’t be taking down quite all of the decorations--we’ll be leaving these up year round.
LED’s are huge energy savers, and in many cases, much longer lasting than standard incandescent bulbs. Plus the energy savings, as usual, are much better for our electric bills.
But, yes, I know that not everyone likes strings of white lights, particularly year-round, so there are now tons of LED bulb options, which plug into normal light sockets, and even some that operate on your normal dimmer switches. I found a couple to share with the community.
Through besthomeledlighting.com, there is a huge variety of different bulbs, from maximally efficient spotlight bulbs that last 50,000 hours (!), to floodlights, to track lighting bulbs (If you’re planning any kind of remodel, track LED’s are a great way to go). You can also get LED bulbs through larger vendors like Amazon and most eco-friendly product vendors. Just search “LED bulbs” and you can immediately start to compare models and prices.
