Algoma Hardwoods Environmental Doors

Algoma Hardwoods has fully embraced their niche of the green building movement. Based in Algoma, Wisconsin, the company offers a full line of certified green wood doors. Their resume begins with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). In 2001, Algoma became the first major door company to secure environmental certification through Smartwood, an FSC-accredited certification agency.

Each door that Algoma manufacturers and ships out is stamped with Smartwood's Chain of Custody (COC) number. That number, recognized by the FSC, ensures end users that Algoma products are certifiably sustainable, from the time of harvesting all the way to arrival on your front stoop.

Algoma Hardwoods environmental doors can also contribute to LEED Certification. While the doors cannot be LEED certified themselves, they can contribute LEED points to a green building project. The company provides a brochure complete with a handy chart that explains exactly how their doors can help in that capacity, including which LEED credits apply.
