Applegate Insulation

Applegate Insulation

Proper insulation saves money on heating and cooling bills – and that’s a beautiful thing for you and the environment. The type of insulation you use, however, might actually be harming the planet with toxins and wasteful manufacturing processes. Environmentally conscious homeowners should seek out insulation products that are earth-friendly, like Applegate Cellulose Insulation.

Applegate Insulation uses raw materials, including recycled telephone books and newspapers, natural borates and ammonium sulfate. Applegate insulation is nontoxic and generates virtually no VOCs. Plus, it uses only one-fifth of the manufacturing energy that traditional fiberglass requires.

Applications include damp spray and dry-blown insulation. Both installations give you an R-Value of 3.8 per inch, almost twice that of glass, which has an R-Value of 2.2. Batting types of insulation leave gaps where air can escape, while blown or sprayed Applegate Cellulose insulation is densely packed to seal thoroughly around pipes and odd crevices. This ensures a much greater reduction of air flow.

The benefits of Applegate Cellulose Insulation include:

  • Fire-resistance
  • Noise reduction from outside sources
  • Part of Energy Star Home Sealing Program
  • Qualifies for LEED certification points
  • Can save you up to 40% on heating and cooling
  • Up to 30% of the cost is eligible for a tax credit

They offer three types of cellulose insulation: Stabilized for stabilized attic applications; Loose-Fill for wall cavities, vaulted ceilings and attics; and Bora-Spray for stabilized attic and wall cavities.
