Fiber Tech Polymers: Composite Fencing With Real Wood Beauty
For the past ten years, California company Fiber Tech Polymers, LLC
has been producing fencing and edging products made from 90% (minimum) recycled
post-consumer wood and plastic waste materials. Their products are
aesthetically pleasing and long lasting, which cost less than equivalent wood
options in terms of length of exposure and amount of maintenance. In
fact, in five years, the higher upfront cost of Fiber Tech products (compared
to wood) is evened out by the lower maintenance. From five years
on, Fiber Tech products get cheaper and cheaper in true cost. Plus, they are
produced with an eco-friendly manufacturing approach and can contribute to LEED
credits. Fiber Tech products are sold at a variety of locations,
including Lowe's, Home Depot and fencing contractors across the US and Canada.
The TimberWolf line features a wide variety of designs and products,
from pickets/rails to posts. The material
works just like wood and requires no special tools or fasteners, though Fiber
Tech recommends using an adhesive for composite-to-composite applications (the
adhesive is available through the company). The TimberWolf
line is made of true recycled wood bonded with recycled HDPE plastic, which
forms a fiber reinforced composite material. The posts are steel with a
"sleeved over" matching composite providing strength and can be
capped for a stunning finish. Because of the material used, matching fasteners,
clips and posts are crucial for a uniform appearance.
