Shaw Epic Hardwood
The only hardwood flooring to be certified by the Cradle-to-Cradle Certification, Shaw’s Epic Hardwood flooring is a gorgeous, eco-friendly installation for green homes. It uses much less newly harvested wood than other flooring products because of its core--a mixture of wood-fiber by products that would otherwise go to waste in landfills, or be burned, unnecessarily polluting our air. The hardwood veneer itself is harvested from forests considered sustainable by the US Department of Agriculture.
In addition to a full list of eco-friendly characteristics, it is actually more resistant to humidity than most wood flooring, which means it can be installed in homes in all kinds of climates.
Shaw’s reputation as an eco-friendly manufacturer (carpets and tile as well) really comes through in their hardwood flooring. Their retailers are everywhere, too, which makes it easy to find and install.
