South Carolina has realized that many of their builders, like many builders nation-wide (and world-wide for that matter), are struggling with what it means for a building to be sustainable. There are private education courses, such as LEED AP courses, and national courses, such as the NARI GCP, but state- and locally-funded courses are still lacking.
South Carolina’s Horry-Georgetown Homebuilder’s Association is collecting a series of speakers for local schools and organizations, with the aim of educating both homeowners and builders on sustainability. They will speak on specific topics, such as plumbing or landscaping.
This is another great example of how organizations are taking on climate change at a local level, being responsible to their own communities for better environmental action.
